Nicely done !! Any info on the now Lost ROLLER GAMES or ROLLER DERBY is always interesting as there is really no written history for a casual fan. Outside of the "Hardcore" fan base there isn't much to find out there and the fan base is now made up of Senior citizens. There is a Hall Of Fame but the people involved in light of the dedication they show,the proprietary interest they show, makes asking them anything seem like an "Oh you should know that" situation.
I was an avid roller games (go T-Birds!) from 1968 until. The behind-the-scenes activities were very interesting and insightful.
I really enjoyed this book. I personally know many of the people mentioned and know of many others who were referenced. Although not all of the "facts" are "correct" as far as I know, this is Roller Derby and who really knows for sure what is true. This book was a very good read for anyone who has worked in or watched Roller Derby or Roller Games. I highly recommend it for readers who have an interest in the sport.
I enjoyed this book very much,while I don't have the knowledge of the sport that others have,I found the stories pretty interesting,I just wish there where more of them.
Much of the information was questionable or wrong years given. Fact if some of the timeframe was correct with details would had added validity. Some of the rosters were also totally off. Question who provided 411. Expected a bit more sorry. For it's price OK read!
