If you want to get your reluctant readers to learn how much fun history can be and be able to access the information, then these Graphic Heroes books are what you need in your classroom. These books got all my students more involved (4th graders) in their research and they were able to turn out well researched and written essays.

ican't review any of the books i pirchased as i had them sent to my granddaughter.

In a series of short but informative books, Gareth Stevens Learning Library creates a vivid, child-friendly retelling of the American Revolution. Designed to nicely complement grade-school history lessons, the books are nicely drawn (beautifully drawn for the most part, as a matter of fact) and capture the highlights quite well (at just over 20 pages each, there's not a whole lot of room for too much depth, but then again, that makes them the right length for a classroom study, or to add insight and knowledge to what kids are already learning in their textbooks).Six books are included in this particular series: George Washington and the Winter at Valley Forge, John Adams and the Boston Massacre, Paul Revere and His Midnight Ride, Samuel Adams and the Boston Tea Party, Thomas Jefferson and the Declaration of Independence, and Thomas Paine writes Common Sense. Each book is written by Gary Jeffrey working with a different artist; each features an index and a few pages (in front and in back) of prose to provide further information for learners.Reviewed by John Hogan
