From Booklist
DC Comics marked the first anniversary of the company-wide overhaul of its superhero line by publishing “issue zeroes†of all 52 of its titles, depicting early events in the careers of its costumed crime fighters that occurred before the first issues of the revamped series. All of those untold stories are collected in this massive hardcover volume. The quality varies wildly: The best tend to feature DC’s most iconic stars, such as Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, who get leading writers like Grant Morrison, Scott Snyder, and Brian Azzarello; or outré creations like Swamp Thing and Animal Man that somehow seem to fly under the corporate radar. Too many of the rest are undistinguished (and somewhat indistinguishable) products that frequently veer toward the sordid and sport the frenzied, cluttered visual approach that serves as DC’s house style. Only the most-avid fans will have been following the exploits of all 52-plus of these characters, making the collection an opportunity for readers to sample some of DC’s less-familiar comics (some of them already canceled). --Gordon Flagg

I got this omnibus for christmas, and as a big fan of DC I was dead excited! Now if you purchased the other DC new 52 Omnibus back in 2011 (which contained all #1 DC new 52 issues) like me and had some complaints, well most of them are solved with this.Let's start with content: Now there are 55 titles in this omnibus and each are about 30-40 pages, and about 80 percent are pure winners, the other 20 percent, not so much. It depends on the fan really. If you've read the origins to these heroes countless times, and are looking for something new, you might find about 50 percent of these origins a waste of time, because for some issues, not a lot is new. But if you're a new reader, then you'll fall in love with this book. While some are rushed, it's impressive that most of these stories can stand alone with only 30-40 pages at its disposal.Stand outs are: Justice League, Batman and Robin, Batgirl, Superman, Talon, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Swamp Thing (from my perspective)In all content is a B+ to A depending on your fan type. Now we have presentation: So if you got the other New 52 omnibus last year and your main problem was the binding was too tight, the issue still lies but not as much as last time. It's more comfortable to read this time, as you don't need to push down on a page to see that speech bubble that's hidden down near the middle. This time it's easier. There might be a few issues once and a while, but that thing isnt really an issue anymore. The only problem I have is when you close the omnibus it gets a bit unwieldy. Other than that this omnibus is an A!The Verdict: IN the end I had a blast with this omnibus. It's got great content, and is easier and more comfortable to read. I definetly recommend for any new DC fans, and old fans should give it a whirl when it goes on sale. I think you'll be pleasently suprised!
Absolutely brilliant, especially for the price in comparison to what it costs in stores. Great origin stories, and it includes heroes that were cut from the New 52.Terrific collectors item for any DC fan
Took me awhile to review this since this book is HUGE! I would suggest you read this on a bed and place it in front of you while sitting Indian style cross legs. Its a bit big and HEAVY to have sit on your lap. Amazing pages, (since they are oversized) and contains all the New 52 Zero issues that came out during the Zero month event. It's big and amazing. Gives you a glimpse of what stories you might want to follow that you had not have before. (I personally found some gems to follow from this, that I haven't before since I originally only kept with the Bat family issues.) 5/5
I bought this for my boyfriend for his birthday. He could not stop smiling and said it was the perfect gift.
I recently got into Comics and i didn't know where to start. I picked through hundreds and bought a few. but then i thought about the New 52. Where to begin.. And that's when i saw this wonderful book :D it had all the origins yeah i get my Flash comics but at least now i can go through each story and pick out the ones i will love to read. Also i know the New 52 are great story's, changing the heroes just enough to fit in with 21st century times and making them even more interesting then before :D i am almost 3/4ths done with this book and i can't wait to finish it and move on to the next vol. (this was a graduation present for myself)
If you want to get into the new 52, but are not sure where to start this book is for you.I got this thinking that the book would have 1/4 good comics and the rest I wouldn't care about. I got this to get a feel for what The New 52 were about, and to see what DC was going to do with their characters. Lucky for me, I found this omnibus to have way more comics that I enjoyed and only a few I didn't care for.Because of this book I've found comics I never thought I would get into, like Justice League Dark, Aquaman, and Flash. It also gave me a preview into some comics I now avoid like Earth 2, Animal Man, and Swampthing. Nothing against those last two, but they are way to dark for me.This is well worth the money, and I have no complaints.
The book is far larger than I anticipated, I mean I read the size specifications but you get the package and it's like BOOM!! On a side note there is so many batman related comics, just wow.
This massive book covers the entire new 52 including the discontinued heroes in there pre-new 52 forms. This is a massive piece of work and in cojumction with my tome of all the #1s I have to say I'm proud to have it as part of my collection.
